AVOID: Charges Exorbitant Clearing fees, holds your packages ransom

I wish I searched here before choosing TNT. I ordered a package from China, get emailed to say I need to fill in the customs clearance form (normal). I send it through and see another mail claiming I need to pay " a mandatory admin fee of R 437.00 is included by TNT for clearing. " Been using Aramex Global Shopper for the last few years, and they handle my customs clearing. Never been charged some random fee after the fact. Get the invoice, it's now R380 for customs clearing? So after R1800+ for shipping, I'm now expected to pay more money, otherwise my package isn't going to be released. This is tantamount to ******ion. Basically holding my package ransom, unless I fork out this surprise charge? UNACCEPTABLE. If you want to charge for this, build it into your shipping fees. Nowhere was I offered an alternative or even informed that this would happen. I am among numerous others on this site have the same issue. It's all over Mybroadband as well. Seems like this is the normal modus operandi. I would love to know what the CPA has to say about this, it smacks of corporate bulling bordering on ********.

I tried mailing to refuse the charge, but it seems my emails aren't being responded to anymore. I've paid the duties and taxes and I want my package that I paid over R1800 for shipping to be delivered please. Tracking ********** 52

Typical automated response, from a useless company. Same response everyone gets. But they won't follow up, or contact me, because they have my money now since I drove to collect my package. I was forced to pay, because they were literally holding me and my new business to ransom. I really hope people read all these reviews and avoid like the plague.

What are you going to do? Pay me back the money? I was in the Pretoria office, speaking to what I assume was a financial controller / manager. I was told there is nothing that can be done, pay up or don't get the package, simple. Inquiring about if you know about the hundreds of similar complaints, I was told that your exco knows about it, but seemingly couldn't be bothered. So for the last how many years, all these complaints about this charge have been escalated to them and nothing has been done to manage the outrage or customer expectations. So from an outside perspective, your exco doesn't give a damn about it and carry on running your company name and reputation into the ground, in the name of profits and bonuses. I'm surprised I'm even getting a response here, really I am. I feel that you have to deal with idiots like me that actually take the time to complain in futility. Here is my tracking number, for what it is worth: ********** 52
