AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

I had a package shipped in from a freight forwarder in the USA. It had multiple knives in it. I wrote CUTLERY as the description, instead of KNIVES - not knowing that the former attracts a much higher import tax than the latter. Fedex SA pre-clears the package - then stubbornly refuses to resubmit the package to customs for re-inspection - saying the remote shipping companies' label is law. I WROTE THE FLIPPIN' DESCRIPTION MYSELF! They then "forward the complaint to their imports team" - only to tell me a week later that the "imports team" reckons they cleared the package correctly. I laughed, with tears in my eyes - at the almost blamelessness of the pure and utter incompetence on display. That a group of people can get together and design a system that is so hostile to the end user just beggars belief.
