Fauchil Hotel - A **** dressed in pretty decor :-(

We initially made a lunch reservation for 13h00 - Which was subsequently moved to 14h00. The extra hour did nothing to help this establishment prepare for our lunch affair.

The waiter (Banele) while he tried his best, was in over his head. There was a drinks menu but half the drinks on the menu were unavailable. We looked through the bar ourselves, looked at the liquor cabinet and eventually settled on a bottle of MCC that was in the fridge. The ice bucket was all wrong, the glassware was promotional branded glassware and the MCC we had initially ordered had suddenly become unavailable.

We then ordered wine. We asked what was on offer food wise. asked for the menu and were told the menu was limited to 4 options. We ordered our meals and all of them were below standard and not what we ordered. We asked for the chef to come downstairs so he can offer alternatives and he was nowhere to be seen. Eventually we shared my friend's Salmon meal and a small salad.

When we asked for the bill...The bill was at over R1500. This exorbitant price for no food, no drinks we really wanted and no real service, courtesy or respect of guests to speak of. We truly felt disrespected, undermined and really unappreciated as patrons. We felt ****** to say the least.
