Selected competition entrants

My husband and I went into Fat Cake City at Greenstone Crescent today. A young lady was quick; almost pushy, in her service from behind the counter. Our purchase came to under R54.00 I took the cash sales slip and waited whilst my husband stepped out for a while. I noticed one male black customer waiting when we walked in and another black male came to fetch his already ordered food. Before long, a white couple walked into the store and ordered and also waited for their meal. A few moments later, the attendant behind the counter told the white couple about a competition that was running at the store. Everything was explained in Afrikaans. Basically, if your purchase was more than R50.00, you could write down your contact details at the back of the cash slip and enter the competition and stand yourself the chance of winning a cellphone or tablet. This attendant then went on to do the very are thing to two other white customers who came in after us. I noticed she spoke about the competition in Afrikaans and only mentioned it to the white customers. I immediately asked the two black males if they were told about the competition and they said, "No". Even after getting my food (without any plastic cutlery or serviettes), I asked the young lady if the competition was only for Afrikaaners and all she said was, she completely forgot about the competition at the point when we placed our order. What a pathetic excuse!!! As far far as I am concerned, I walked out feeling excluded from a fair chance in the competition and insulted that our money was good enough to pay towards the young attendent's salary (perhaps) but not good enough to be a part of the competition. Neither were the other two black male paying customers. PATHETIC. Your forefathers made me learn Afrikaans, thankfully, so I understood and enquired. This selectiveness is unacceptable if my money is good. .... food wise, the chips were still hard and badly fried.
