Money given back to customer
Hellopeter, today at 9:30am (8 September 2019) I visited the Fat Cake City in Fochville as part of my traditional weekend treat "3 Russians and chips" at R34-95. I found a young boy maybe 7-9 years old in front of the queue. So when the cashier gave him change the boy was a bit cautious, I guess not to drop the coins. Then the cashier placed money down on the counter impatiently and said to the boy "take your change". This was done very rudely, so I said to the cashier that was rude. You should treat your customers nicely and give them change nicely on their hand especially the young. The cashier got very agitated with me and told me he did nothing wrong. I then told the mother of the boy and cashier's colleague what happened and I was not happy about the service. I said if your cashier (he) continues with this attitude I will not be coming to this shop again. The cashier got so agitated by me he offered me my money back and told me to leave and never come back to the shop again. A customer is always right to a point and people must be trained in conflict management if they serve others. There is no need for unprofessionalism in a business place because as a customer I need to feel safe in a shop. I sensed violence in that shop. But I learned my lesson that some shops require one to be quiet if something wrong happens. It was my first time being given money back and told to leave.
Solution: please let him know that the incident was reported on Hellopetter and bad behavior or treatment to customers can affect business negatively one way or the other. A written apology will be in order but I don't think he even knows what he did wrong or sees his customers as stakeholders. Kind regards Phumlani B Mhlungu
