Wedding Event in disarray
Poor service. My fiance and I were suppose to be having our wedding in December 2020. The deposit was demanded from the venue upfront in March 2020. Since then pandemic became more prominent which we fully understood with the uncer*****y that followed. Since then for the last 5 months we have been asking for constant updates via email from the venue, to which we received a short answer "Venue closed". This continued till the end of August 2020, where we were worried that due to the short time we were not going to be able to stage a wedding. This together with NO INFORMATION at all from the venue we asked for a refund of our deposit, for the next few weeks we were passed around from accounts to legal, it was here we were offered a hotel voucher in return for our deposit. I am not sure how a "wedding ceremony and reception" payment can be translated to a hotel voucher that expires in 24 months. We kindly explained that this is not a reasonable settlement and explained that both of us a contractors who cannot afford lose this amount of money as we have incurred debt. We also queried why no one had contacted us regarding our event and planning thereof, because the venue had been advertising for new business for weddings on its various social media platforms. These adverti*****ts had started well before we asked for a refund. So clearly there are plans afoot for planning and hosting weddings, we were overlooked. Since then to date we are being strong armed into accepting the voucher or accepting the continuation of the wedding (2 months to plan from scratch) without any guidance on how the wedding would actually take place. We have only been dealing with their legal person who has continued to evade questions. We were also told that the number of persons allowed for a wedding changes weekly which according to all the nation addresses, I believe is false, which is the reason they cannot give us the guidelines. We requested guidelines so that we can make an informed decision yet this was ignored by the legal person, we do not want to commit any more money without knowing what our options are, i.e is the catering at the same price as quoted before or do we get a credit as we will only be using half the venue even tho we paid for a full capacity venue. We are now in the unfair position of losing our deposit or forcing a wedding in 2 months were save the dates have already been sent out without any guidance on the terms or costs.
