Very Dissatisfied.

I placed a lye-by end October 2023, I no longer want the lay-by and I was told I can get back my refund. However the branch manager said I will have to be penalised 50% of the refund. How is that when the Call Centre advised I am eligible for my full refund. So how can two people from the same company give you two different stories?
