Disgraced and humiliated customer
I bought a R10 000.00 kitchen unit on 09/09/2021 at Fair price Eyethu mall in Orange farm. In less that a week, the drawers were falling off. I alerted Fair price about this issue and requested a refund which they initially refused until I contacted the ombudsman.
Thereafter, they sent their staff to come and pick up the kitchen unit, they called me and gave me date where the unit was to be collected but they only arrived two days later and only wanted to take part of the unit and not the whole thing.
When contacted by the ombudsman, they gave an incorrect version of events. I later went to the store for a refund, then the store manager request my receipt which I handed over to him, he then wrote on the receipt that they offer 2years warranty, this means I am not entitled to a refund but repairs. I contacted their head office and lodged my complaint and they kept promising that their branch manager will contact me to come get my refund. Fair price has since contacted me to let me know they need me to pay R2500 for the repairs on the unit, nothing about my refund.
It is a great shame that Fair price treats the same consumers that keep the store open with such disregard. It leaves me wondering if I'd be getting this horrible treatment if I were a white customer. From the Store manager, Fair price head office and ombudsman.. Everyone is just passing the buck or brushing me off. Who speaks for unsatisfied customers? Is this really FAIR, FAIR PRICE??????
