Bad treatment from security personnel

To the Directors/Executives

Hi, I am a customer to the Eyethu Orange Farm Mall and have been a resident of Orange Farm since 1990.

It is with great sadness that when I came to do Shopping for my Mother (age 74) like I do every other month; I was given an unpleasant treatment by the security gourds at the Ba*****t parking.

On the 31st of October 2020 at around past 19:00, I entered the ba*****t parking to park my car due to the heavy rains; upon entering I was stopped by one of the security gourds who refused me access and instructed me to exit the ba*****t parking lot. Even after numerous request that he explain the reasons of why I should not park my car; he continued to shout and scream at me; not sure if this is part of the training procedure for the security company he works for? But, I refuse to be treated is such a manner while I am the customer and have the right to park where is safe for my vehicle.

My question to the Directors / Executives: what measures do you have in place in case of Emergency situations? E.g. say my car was damaged due to storms etc? if you refuse to offer your customers safety and only care about the Supervisors and your Stuff… what kind of Values does Eyethu as a Corporate follow? Do you even put customers at the centre of your decision making?

The Second Security Gourd by the name of (Mvelo Zwane), who I would assume was the Supervisor… He came to the situation and did not address the behaviour of his colleague who was screaming and I suspect “toxicated” no normal person will just burst frustration to a stranger. All I tried to do with the gentlemen is to explain my reasons of wanting to park under cover and mentioned that I’ve parked there numerous times before; never did I experienced any issues. I was sick as a dog with flue, my shoulders were in pain because I got rained on, the groceries I had bought were wet by the time I got to the car, whilst there’s available parking at the centre I shop in? Where is the customer service in this? Or this only happens in Black Communities because I refuse to believe that this is happening anywhere else especially in the North! I go to other shopping malls once in a while and their under ground parking is available for all customers. The mere fact that your Parking is exclusively for Your Supervisors and Stuff! Pure nonsense! Your stuff and supervisors are there because of customers; the very same customers you illtreat!

I would like a clear explanation and guidance in this regard. It would also help if you could also provide a list of other Malls that have adopted this procedure of not allowing their customers to park in Ba*****ts? This behaviour and treatment to our community and everyone who is a customer to Eyethu Mall is totally unacceptable!

Your prompt response in this regard will be highly appreciated.
