Good day. I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding the handling of my Telkom account and the actions of both Telkom and NuDebt. My May 2026 debit order was returned unpaid by my bank. Upon becoming aware of this, I immediately made an EFT payment directly to Telkom on 7 June 2026 in the amount of R1,568.00. Shortly thereafter, I received an SMS claiming that my account was in arrears by R3,134.50. Concerned by this, I immediately contacted Telkom Billing. The consultant confirmed that my payment had been received and allocated and that the only amount outstanding was approximately R1,566.50, which would only become due at the end of June 2026. Despite Telkom confirming receipt of my payment, my account was nevertheless handed over to NuDebt for collection. On 15 June 2026, my bank account was debited with R3,134.00, despite the alleged outstanding amount being only R1,566.50. To date, nobody has been able to explain why a debit of R3,134.00 was processed if the alleged arrears amounted to only R1,566.50. I subsequently received three separate collection notices from NuDebt dated 15 June, 17 June and 18 June 2026, alleging that: • My account has been in default for more than 20 business days; • I failed, refused and/or neglected to make payment; and • Legal action, adverse credit bureau listings and default judgment proceedings may follow. These allegations are factually incorrect. My debit order is scheduled for the last day of each month. The payment was made on 7 June 2026, less than ten days after the failed debit order. I therefore fail to understand how Telkom and NuDebt calculated that the account was allegedly in default for more than 20 business days. I have repeatedly requested: A full account reconciliation. Proof of how the alleged 20-business-day default was calculated. An explanation for the debit of R3,134.00. Confirmation of why the account was referred to collections after payment had already been received and acknowledged by Telkom. Confirmation that no adverse credit bureau listing has been made. Despite multiple emails, these questions have been ignored. Instead, I continue to receive automated threats of legal action without any attempt to address the facts or investigate the dispute. I believe this conduct is unreasonable, unfair, and potentially prejudicial to my credit profile. I therefore request an urgent investigation, a complete reconciliation of my account, written responses to the questions raised above, and reimbur*****t of any incorrectly debited amounts. I have proof of payment dated 7 June 2026, proof of the debit processed on 15 June 2026, and copies of all correspondence exchanged with Telkom and NuDebt.
