DISHONEST CHARGES FROM EXPLORE BEYOND DSTV INSTALLATIONS

My extra-View decoder lost certain viewing channels.

The technicians from “Explore Beyond Installations” servicing the Cape area arrived within the hour.

I informed the technicians that I suspected the LNB was faulty.

They did all the necessary tests and after 15 min they left to get parts. They returned within 30 min with a new LNB. They replace it and everything worked perfectly.

That is until the invoice was submitted!!

The accredited installers for DSTV charge between R 399 – R 500 call out fee. The call out fee of R 500 includes ½ hour labour.

The total time spend on replacing the LNB was 10 min.

I was charged the following:

Call Out Fee R 550 Unicable LNB R 950 ??? Installation R 375

Totalling R 1 875-00

1. I feel the call out fee of R 550 is exaggerated. 2. The DSTV Smart LNB 2 port (LMX 502) ranges from R 299 to R 313 at Incredible Connection & Builders Warehouse. It is scandalous to charge R 950 3. R375 /hour labour is dishonest when the first 30 min is included in the call out fee. To charge a further R 375 for installing the LNB that took 10 min is unacceptable. 4. What was further troubling is that the technicians would not leave my home until the money reflected in their account? When I said I would do an EFT, they insisted that they will wait for the POP. Very unprofessional.

Your website indicates that “you go above & beyond” and offer “VALUE FOR MONEY”. Not so !!

I would like to know what is your take on the charges?
