EXPEDIA TRAVEL booking - beware!

Bought a return ticket for my son on Expedia. When he could not travel (for personal health reasons) I phoned Expedia to find out the options. The ticket was for travel with KLM and Air France, both airlines have a cancellation or re-booking policy. The Expedia agent agent told me that there was no problem and that I or any of my immediate family can rebook within the next 12 months for the same route. Based on this information I opted not to cancel the ticket and get a partial refund, but rather pay extra and use the later option. However, when I phoned Expedia in July to rebook, the agent said that it could not be done and that I have forfeited the ticket. I spent 2 hours on the phone over 2 days with Expedia supervisors. I got nowhere.I asked them to locate the recording of my call but apparently they couldn't. They basically insinuated that I was lying about the offer when I phoned to change. I feel insulted by them. I am a medical doctor with a high IQ ; I have traveled to 4 continents, been to 25 countries and made dozens of bookings over 3 decades, of which at least 10 trips were booked with Expedia in the last 3 years. They have let me down, they have conned me. All I can say is that you should be very careful about using Expedia, do not trust them. Use them to search for options but NEVER book with them, neither flights or hotels. You can get the same deals directly with airlines and often get hotels cheaper. It is way to risky to deal with Expedia. They often make mistakes, double books or do not offer service when you need it. Airlines give preference to direct bookings, as do hotels. Bottom line is, DO NOT USE EXPEDIA.
