Total **** ****

I noticed that this company has been listed and reported already, but I would like to add my five cents if I may. See email and my response below.

Good day,

We received your application regarding the Admin / Secretary Position and we would like to inform you that your application has been approved via our Professional Placement Network.

This full time position is available within a legal company and you will receive a monthly salary of R8580 plus benefits and bonuses. (Company name cannot be disclosed at this time due to company policy)

However before we finalize the entire process, the employers require a full & recent (not older than one month) background check and screening on your profile as this is now compulsory prior to the final job offer.

Kindly note that as an agency, we do not provide this service and we would recommend Fine Core South Africa to assist you as they have proven to be loyal, fast, professionals and reliable.

If you want them to assist you, please send an email to: *** or *** requesting full information regarding the background Checks and Screening Process.

You can also visit www.finecore.co.za

Kindly note that a service for the above mentioned process applies and according to our T&Cs, the service fee has to be covered by you (The applicant) and cannot be deducted from any of your salaries whatsoever.

Once we receive your background checks and screening results / outcomes report, we will then finalize the entire application process and you will be joining the company within September 2021. (Exact date to be confirmed).

Alternatively if you already have one, please email the certificate / report to:*** on or before Monday 30th August 2021.

N.B: A police clearance does not work as proof of your background checks for employment purposes as it does not include your education, employment history & references checks.

KINDLY NOTE THAT WE'RE OPERATING REMOTELY DUE TO COVID 19 & WE HAVE LIMITED COMMUNICATION.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT THIS HAS COMPLETELY NOTHING TO DO WITH COVID TESTING & SCREENING.

ANY OTHER INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR NEW ROLE WILL BE PROVIDED AFTER RECEIVING YOUR BACKGROUND CHECKS AND SCREENING REPORT / CERTIFICATE.

Congratulations and we look forward to having you as an employee.

Thank you and please stay safe!

Kind Regards

My response..... Good day

Please see attached the docs I have available.

And let me add this.... I fully understand that your company is making sure that who they employ is actually who and what they say they are. CV, Certified ID documents and Matric Certificate plus other certificates and diplomas also gets scrutinized later in the interview process. Yes, I understand why you insist on getting it done early to avoid any ***** and time wasting to creep in after the contract has been signed. Educational docs are easy to come by, that is re issuing of certain documents from the department of education.

What is definitely a problem and can take quite some time to get response from with results as well, is the application from SAPS or the company you mentioning below.

Why are you making it even more difficult for an unemployed person to supply this info at a cost?

A few years ago, I was interviewed by an agency called Cozens went through the 3 interviews and just before starting date 02/09/2013, the agent called me to please clarify an incident they picked up from a similar report that you requesting. If I don't, my employment at the new employer could be cancelled . I in turn called the HR person the Friday and advised me to report for employment the Monday 02/09/2021 to sign the final contract. After signing the final papers and got my induction date, I asked the HR lady about the procedure for supplying these kind of info besides education, she advised me, that you signing the contract is the declaration of and agreement that the company have your permission to do these background checks and that they reserve the right to terminate employment without benefits if they should come across any discrepancies.

I was employed for almost 7 years for this company and the issue on that report was a traffic fine in 1994 which I paid then but was listed as an admition of guilt. HR took the document and my proof that I paid the offense and ad it to my file. The agent of Cozens was replaced by the HR department after 2 months.

I think you must re-look at your decision from a legal perspective as this could easily look like you are trying to make money for the company mentioned in your email.

I had an online interview on Friday 27/08/2020, which was recorded and I asked the interviewer/owner of the business if he/they have the same approach as you and his answer was a simple no. They contact previous employers if they need to and the rest they do themselves, and this includes credit and ******** checks if necessary.

Kind regards Edgar Robertson
