Over-worked and Under-paid

Executive Building and Cleaning

Most of you will not be fami**** with this particular company and let me tell you, don’t break a nail about it. Clearly you would think that “Executive” would mean something but quite frankly, I am not convinced. Never judge a book by its cover! YES, TRUE. Seeing these people clean is quite a show as they really break their backs to assure clean and tidy isles in all your leading supermarkets, however, do you know what these people go through just to give you that kind of satisfaction? NO YOU DON’T!! Firstly, you have the owners along with the business group of individuals in head office. Well, they don’t care much as you secondly have management which in fact only the area managers work their tiny derrieres off just to make ends meet at the end of the day. Thirdly you have the cleaners themselves… SHAME!! I can tell you, CCMA would have a field day! Area managers have to work 13 to 17 hours per day and that is not sitting behind desks all day! No, that is having to wake up in early hours such as 03h00 or 04h00, required to be in another town by 06h00. They are expected to take cleaning materials along and then jump from town to town in order for these materials to be dropped off at each supermarket and also assuring that the cleaning staff’s work ethnic in each supermarket is up to standard throughout the day. These area managers sometimes see their homes again at 19h00 if they are lucky and mostly they only come home after 21h00 at night. Fair? I think not! Why? Well here is why… Fact number one: these area managers NEVER see overtime contributions; number two: a normal week has seven days, however, sadly, for these managers, there are eight days in every week, thus, no day off what so ever! It is work, work, work, all the time. Also, they have to transport some of the cleaners from home to work and from work to home again. Now you probably say, yes well at least they get leave once or twice a year… WHAT? WRONG!! They get leave alright but now here is what happens. They still get phoned having to do deliveries of cleaning materials, or one supermarket requires in-house stock from another supermarket and they have to assist. I mean really now. Don’t these supermarkets have their own transport for these kind of scenarios? So yes, basically they work all the time. Now I see you thinking they would at least get Christmas day off… Oh please! NO, THEY HAVE TO WORK ASWELL! All I want to get out there is, don’t trust EBC with anything. Don’t work for them, don’t look at them and sure as hell don’t use them in your company! They are stingy, greedy and just awful. I hope the leading supermarkets terminate the service of EBC and seek out another cleaning service to further assist them in their cleaning needs.
