Every company needs a Sonja
When the time came to move from our family home, I did my research which included using Hello Peter. I called several companies in to do quotes and settled on Execu Move. The company had excellent reviews on Hello Peter and I was curious about the hype. It's hard to rack up almost five stars in moving peoples' possessions.
I am pleased to report that I am another happy customer. I like to be realistic and I'm a straight-talking type anyway, so I'll say right off that if I was awarding a percentage it wouldn't be 100%. There were a couple of phone calls not returned timeously and a few other points I'd be happy to discuss with anyone who wanted to nitpick. Overall, however, the experience was painless and the wonderful Sonja in Cape Town made the move seem like fun because she was unfailingly cheerful.
I was anxious because, in Johannesburg, the company uses its international team to assess capacity because the local (vs international) office is based in Cape Town. It turned out that Bruce's estimates were pretty spot on and Sonja was efficient and supportive at her end.
David J was my crew leader and he was charming, polite and extremely helpful. The Cape Town offloading crew also deserves a special mention for being polite and charming.
I am a difficult customer to please (some muppet who opted to follow me on Twitter tweeted the other day that all I ever do on Twitter is to complain about companies - I had to point out to him that that is what I use Twitter for - it gets attention when all else fails - and then I blocked him) and I'm happy to say that I can recommend Execu Move without hesitation and with confidence.
Well done team. We're not quite done yet, but the next move is later this year, so time now to relax after all the organising, sorting and packing.
Some free advice: Most of us baby boomers also have WAY TOO MUCH 'stuff'. Start chucking it out long before you plan to move

Oh my goodness - what a detailed and may I say, refreshingly positive and fun review - so much so that if I was moving, I would most definitely move with Execu-move:-):-)
You are so right about it being hard to rack up five stars for moving people's possessions. Whether local, long distance or moving someone's effects half way around the world, I don't think one of our customers rates moving too highly on their "fun things to do" list. Irrespective, someone has to do it and for us it remains a huge responsibility that we never ever take lightly.
Understanding our customers stresses and needs during a move has helped us maintain consistently high rankings on Hellopeter - but we could not have done that without our awesome staff and we are truly blessed to have the calibre people working for us that we do. Thank you for recognising and naming them on this review - they will be delighted!
