Unqualified, Dishonest and Costly Experience with Exclusive Pioneer Construction and Kona

Kona Ngubegusha, the owner and main contractor of Exclusive Pioneer Construction (EPC), presents himself as a qualified electrician, however neither he nor anyone on his team appears to hold the necessary qualifications. Our experience with this company was extremely disappointing, frustrating and costly.

Despite charging full market rates, he failed to pay his staff for months at a time, and repeatedly demanded payment ahead of agreed milestones, which resulted in us overpaying relative to the actual work delivered.

The workmanship and technical knowledge were also deeply concerning. EPC installed an incorrectly sized main cable to our property, positioned the meter box incorrectly (on the ground vs 1m above the ground as per South African law), and overall, demonstrated a poor understanding of South African residential electrical regulations and compliance requirements. Correcting these mistakes cost us significant additional time and money.

Based on our experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering using EPC or Kona for electrical work. Do thorough due diligence before engaging this company.
