Worst Vodacom after sales service.

On the 8th of December 2015 I had purchased a Vodacom tablet from your Exact Store in the Promenade Mall as a Christmas gift for my younger brother.

On the 16th December 2016 the tablet wouldn’t power on after the battery had died. I then went to Exact in Blue Route mall (a day later on the 17th) as the product had a 2 year warranty. I handed the tablet over to Danielle. I had completed a form with Danielle and was advised it would take a week to be repaired and they would let me know when I could come and collect at the store.

I hadn’t heard back from Exact and thought it could be because it was over the festive season. By February I still hadn’t heard anything and went back to the store. When we asked for Danielle I was advised that she no longer works there and someone else has taken over her department.

Went back again on the 24th March as the new person hadn’t contacted me either. Spoke to a gentleman named Alphonzo, who had taken over from Danielle. He informed me that he will contact Vodacom and get back to me at the beginning of the following week.

I had received no feedback from Alphonzo or the Store Manager (Alphonzo had advised that he had informed the Store Manager by this time) by Monday the 27th of March. I called the store on the 29th March 2017 to find out progress and was told by Alphonzo that he would get back to me.

Once again nobody had contacted me so I decided to visit the store. I spoke to Alphonzo who had now advised that they no longer have the tablet or know where it is because the previous employer (Danielle) took it in and submitted the repair. He further advised that he had searched high and low and could not locate the tablet. He suggested I contact Danielle myself to enquire what she had done with the tablet and gave me the location of her current employment.

I was perturbed that this was his solution to locating the tablet that was left in Exact’s possession. I did however go to her and speak to her, apparently I was not the first person to be sent to her from Exact. She also advised me that she had taken all the necessary steps to ensure that before she had left her employment at Exact everything was handed over and that all loose ends were tied up, as to avoid situations such as this one.

I then made numerous calls and store visits throughout the month of April in complete despair as now I didn’t know who I should be following up with. Whenever I came to the store the manager was busy or not there and I had to leave my contact details. When I called he was also unavailable and I had to leave my details for him to return my call. I have yet to receive a call from anyone at The Exact Store.

On one of my numerous visits to the store, Alphonzo had informed me that the tablet had then been discovered in the display cabinet by the Store Manager. This was only discovered because they were about to sell it to another customer.

I was advised that the only way to proceed would be to follow the same procedure I had done with Danielle FIVE months ago. After this attempt at getting the tablet repaired I was admitted to hospital and once again I had received no contact from anyone. Not Alphonzo, not the Store Manager, not Vodacom.

I was discharged from hospital Friday the 16th June and was back at Exact Blue Route on Sunday the 18th because I still had not heard anything from anyone even though this was now my second attempt at getting this tablet repaired. Alphonzo was in store, handed the tablet to me with a note saying it has water damage / physical damage and would cost us R300,00+ to be repaired and we can contact Vodacom ourselves to find out why.

This should have taken +- 1 week to be resolved. It has taken half a year and I am still in possession of a broken tablet. I have yet to receive an apology from the store. The Store Manager didn’t even have the decency to contact me and clarify what happened. I would have hoped that after such poor service I would either be provided with a new tablet or at the least my tablet would be handed to me in working order.

The tablet was not water damaged / physically damaged in our care.

Not once did I raise my voice or be disrespectful to the staff and I am slightly disheartened at the level of service I experienced whilst being polite and not losing my temper even after 6 months.

I would love to hear from you on this. To hear from anyone.
