Real People collecting Prescribed Debts

I've had a debt with Real People and stopped making payment in 2012, the debt collectors also stopped making contact with me in 2012. at this stage, the debt should have prescribed.

On 06 July 2018 I made a call to Real People's call centre requesting a prescribe letter but the call centre agent told me that prescription was interrupted by a tracing agent in August 2015. this is not true.

I requested the call centre agent to forward me all communication by the tracing agent by email but they never did.

On 18 July 2018 I received an sms from Real People stating that I must make an arrangement to pay R34507.14 and I should reply to their number number on ********** 724.

I feel that this is uncalled for because the debt has prescribed. The last time I made contact with anyone about this debt was in 2012, I believe that the tracing agent has bought the debt from Real People and they are claiming to have made arrangements with me. worst of all, they keep on updating the records on the credit bureau that the debt is still active.

I believe that it is only fair that they remove the default from Experian and provide me with a prescribe letter.

Real People knows it very well that they are not supposed to collect any monies from such debts, they cannot keep uncollected debts forever. this is regulated. they also cannot make false claim, I just wish that the credit ombut can intervene and assist vulnerable individuals who are persecuted by Real People.
