Dont let the pretty pink, fool you at EVOKE!

My recent visit to Evoke Coffee Shop at Lake Umuzi was a disaster from start to finish. Here’s a rundown of what went wrong:

First, I waited over an hour for my food. When I asked about my order, I were stunned to learn that they hadn’t even started preparing it. The small kitchen is clearly overwhelmed by the number of seats available, leading to unacceptable wait times.

To make matters worse, after all that waiting, they informed us that they didn’t have several items we ordered. They suggested substituting the tramazini with a pita, which wasn’t what we wanted but felt we had no choice but to accept at that point.

When the food finally arrived, the disappointment continued. The cake available was old and dry, clearly not fresh.

Overall, Evoke Coffee Shop is not equipped to handle large groups, and our experience on a Monday was particularly poor. The combination of long wait times, inadequate kitchen capacity, unavailable menu items, and subpar food quality means I won’t be returning. I can't recommend this place to anyone. If you’re looking for a pleasant coffee shop experience, look elsewhere.
