The ballad of bad service

So here we are, just calmly ordering some stuff. To date our company has ordered several parts, including full systems, from Evetech. Out of the seven times we have ordered they have only been able to deliver on time twice.

Now, we don't usually have them deliver either, we drive through to their depo to pick up our parts. The first two times weren't that bad, we could forgive them. Somehow on the third failure their PC guru's failed to notice they gave us a Nvidia 1030, instead of the 1050 we had already paid for. So we went back and had them replace it.

Then we made the mistake of ordering a laptop. We called the next morning to confirm we can pick it up. They had stop selling it. Not run out, no they had suddenly stopped selling the laptop we already bought. We breathed a heavy sigh and forked over another R400 to get the newer version. Being promised we can pick it up that afternoon.

We drove through, again, at four that afternoon. Low and behold our laptop wasn't ready, they were still installing windows and for some weird, funky doodly reason we couldn't just wait until five for them to finish. No, we had to come through the next day.

So early the next day, fresh from sleep and thinking things through we decided to call them before we drove through. They promised, promised, that they would call as soon as it is ready for pickup. We waited until three in the afternoon, we called them again, yet again they said ok, come and get it.

Somehow, through their sheer incompetence they were able to actually give us our laptop.

Now, apparently not learning from our previous mistakes, and the items we need being quite small, we made another order. That was three days ago. We paid the price for next day delivery. We waited, got nothing, we added another item. We were told, no, promised that today we would be getting our items. We had EFT'd the money over and there was literally nothing between us and them.

We called in the morning, "it will be there this afternoon" we called at two, "it will be there before five". Dear reader can you guess what happened when we called at four? "Sorry, our deliverymen will have it there tomorrow"

Now, we understand that things can go wrong. But, at some point we must seriously ask, how hard can it be to deliver a keyboard and hard drive? Do these drivers have to walk or use bicycles to do their deliveries? Do they attempt wormhole jumps to cross a short 21km distances? Will there ever be a proper purchase and delivery from Evetech or should we look for someone else?

We will wait and see what happens tomorrow but, we are 90% sure we're going to have some more direct words with someone at Evetech. Until then, we will suffer the irritation that is membrane keyboards.
