Horrible experience when we sent a laptop in after it kept shutting down

My boyfriend bought a Victus laptop from Evetech last year and it worked perfectly. Two months ago the PC started shutting down, not frequently, but when it was running at high CPU usage. As he uses this for work, it was a big problem. He bought a desktop from them to that he can continue to work and he contact Evetech to arrange to send the laptop back to them to see what the issue is.

The laptop was collected last week Wednesday (20th August) and this week they contacted my boyfriend to ask for the laptop pin. They contacted him the day after they got the pin saying that they were locked out of the laptop due to too many incorrect tries (he gave them an old password by mistake, and they waited until they were locked out before they requested that he send a new PIN) and asked if they can wipe it, to which my boyfriend agreed.

Yesterday, on the 29th August, he was contacted by Evetech, they advised that there is liquid damage on the laptop and therefore the damage is not covered by the warranty and offered to do an assessment for a fee and quote on the repairs required.

The image did show liquid near the fan BUT no other part of the laptop showed any signs of liquid. There was no proof that liquid had entered the laptop either through the bottom of top of the laptop by the keyboard.

Evetech could not tell us: 1) where the liquid had come from 2) they could not send us images from any other part of the laptop that showed entry points for liquid 3) they could not prove that they considered the damage came from environmental factors, nor did they test for this.

Due to the laptop being wiped, they were not able to run initial testing to see what the actual issue was. Seems like they drew their conclusions the moment they saw liquid on the part, and didn’t investigate where it came from.

We have so many other electronic parts from them and now I dont have faith in the brand should something happen to these parts.
