Evetech warranty holds no water - buyer beware!!

I'm very disappointed with Evetech and their refusal to honour their warranty on products they sell.

I recently bought an ASUS laptop and chose this specific model as it was advertised as '2 Years Fetch and Repair'. The HDD failed within 3 months so I contacted Evetech to arrange for the laptop to be collected. I received a reply that I must contact Mustek in KZN as they were the designated company to repair ASUS products. Mustek informed me that my warranty was 'carry in', not 'fetch and repair' and that I would have to bring the laptop in to them.

I contacted Evetech again, letting them know that the warranty as advertised was not the same as what Mustek told me, and sent them a screenshot of the laptop as advertised on their website AND on the receipt in the 'my orders' section, both indicating the warranty as '2 Years Fetch and Repair'. They rep**** that the warranty was for '2 Years Return to Base Fetch and Repair'. I'm not sure what 'return to base' means and why it does not appear anywhere on their website - this caveat was added AFTER I'd made the purchase. It is clearly a means to duck out of their responsibility to honour their warranty as advertised.

I informed Evetech that I would not buy any products from them in the future as their warranties don't hold water; they then said that they would fetch the laptop, but that it would take up to 21 working days before I got the laptop back. I rep**** that this was an unreasonable amount of time and they rep**** that it would take at least 5 working days just to collect the laptop and return it to their shop, which I find absolutely ludicrous.

Evetech is not a company to be trusted and I will be looking elsewhere in future for my computers and PC accessories.
