EVETECH - SERVICE AND QUALITY FAILURES
Disappointment is the word,
After saving a year I decided to buy my first proper build through Evetech (complete build excl GPU). After looking around I decided to order from evetech, although not the cheapest I could find, price isn’t always the most important as service, professionalism and reliability go hand in hand.
After chatting to the very friendly and helpful sales guy Jehan, order was place and POP sent 21 Feb nice and early Tuesday in the morning, i did make expectation clear that I wanted the PC by Friday the 24th, the courier could not deliver by then so I opted to do the round trip of 100km’s to collect myself. All was super
Got home, set the PC up over the weekend, numerous concurrent crashes, after a week of troubleshooting with no luck, I logged a return ticket the 2nd of March and submitted a full report of what I had trouble shooted during the week, early morning or late evenings after work.
I advised (made it very clear) Evetech that I would deliver the PC myself, which I did the 3rd of March, only to receive a call from their courier company who was upset that they had not been informed about this, I was on the receiving end. ZERO communication between Evetech and their courier. I also made it clear that Evetech was to deliver this since I had now been there twice.
The troubleshooting and the personal delivery was my way of expediting the matter. Weekend came and Went
Monday I get a call from Kobus - the technician asking me what’s wrong with the build, ZERO internal communication & they had not touched the PC since Friday morning the 3rd of March when I had dropped it off. The point here being the goods have been paid for, in full, are faulty, and there is ZERO urgency from Evetechs side. Also why did I spend a week compiling troubleshooting notes for no one to even pass on?
Later in the week I get an email advising on the error, RAM was not compatible with the motherboard. This is an item that Evetech, the professionals, have marketed as an upgrade kit (combo) and advertised on their website, for any potential consumer to buy individually or in bulk. In addition to this evetech charges 1k for assembly and testing which I done before the machine is released.
As an understanding chap, I know that these things happen, have built a lot of PC’s in my life, started chatting to Andries who had advised me of the issues, we swapped out some components, I bought an additional component, and he advised he would revert when the PC was ready. I also asked him that the team please tuck away some on the fan wires (1.because the case has a feature for this & 2.anyone doing a clean job would have done this in the first place). On Friday 10 March I missed his mail at 10am as I followed up with a call around 12, “the PC is ready for you to collect” he said. Telephonically I advised him that I had requested they deliver, he then arranged same.
The weekend came and went
13 March, and im following up with the courier Rhenus on delivery, Ops says one thing, the driver says another, finally get delivered to my door. My wife helps met get the rig inside, unbox etc. Glass panel is FULL of finger marks, small thing I think, although in all the time ive privately built PC’s I have NEVER sent one like this to a client, I even cleaned it before sending it back to Evetech 3 March. Anyway,
Open up the glass panel to show my wife the new board (as we had swapped out the upgrade kit), we find some loose random wire hanging around there seems to be from the cooler, and the rubber casing for the CPU cooler is badly damaged which it was not before ( I took pics before returning this to Evetech, just the smart thing to do)
After a few deep breaths I call Evetech and chat to Andries who seemed baffled by the fact that I was unhappy, I explained to him that there is wire casing that is damaged when he opted to point out that “we even did additional effort as per your request and tucked away the fan wires, I personally checked the PC” he said, almost as if to say, there was no damages when it left Evetech. From a company that charges 1K to test components (which was not properly done) and to build the rig (which was also lacking), I would hardly call them having to put the fan wires away as additional effort, 1. I pay for this, 2. Anyone that has a passion for building a PC would never have left it like that.
24 Days after payment, and it needs to go back, again.. im expecting to hear from Evetech management about corrective steps on the components that was damaged during assembly as well as the unprofessional service and inconvenience caused.
