Dishonest and back track!
After much frustration I find that I need to turn to Hello Peter to perhaps take this on:
On 26 February 2024 I purchased a laptop. Upon receiving the laptop it was found that it would not charge. An RMA was logged with reference number ERMA050379.
Evetech agreed upon inspecting the laptop to issue a replacement. This was done on the 5th of March. I only received the replacement laptop on the 14th of March.
I received the new laptop and exactly the same issue occurred with the new laptop. I notified them and logged a new RMA under ERMA051093 on the 20th of March (6 days after receiving) and was instructed it would be collected. I advised that since this was the second faulty device and in both instances within 7 days of receiving it, I would purchase a product elsehwere and would like a full refund.
On the 28th of March Evetech notified me stating that they had "reseated" the battery and would ship the laptop back to me. I advised them that I did not want it back and wanted a refund as I had purchased another device elsewhere.
On the 2nd of April 2024 I was then advised that a refund could be done, however a 20% handling fee would apply as the unit was "out of the returns period". I advised them that I would not be paying the 20% fee as the second unit was reported and returned well within time and that the technical team took their time to assess the device and only completed their assessment on the 28th of March. I further advised that if they insisted on charging me the 20% handling fee that I would go to CPA
On the 5th of April I received an email stating that the handling fee would be waived and that a credit would be generated.
On the 6th of APril I received an email stating that they were "quite short on technicians at this moment, we will not be able to complete the assessment 100% today regretfully."
They further mentioned the credit would be provided on Monday.
On the 12th of April, I followed up asking where my refund was. I was rep**** to on the 15th of April stating that it will be looked into as to what is causing the delay. Later that day I was asked for banking confirmation details "to eliminate any possible *****" which I provided immediately.
On the 17th of April, I emailed for a follow up.
Today (19 April) I received an email stating: "We regretfully are unable to process the refund as we require the original packaging for the laptop.
As I was getting ready to get the refund processed, I noticed that the packaging does not correspond with the unit within."
Now I packed this myself, and the laptop was put in its original box in the plastic even with the keyboard protector in place. How is it that all of a sudden after all this time, they say the packaging is not right. This is factually incorrect. They are trying to avoid refunding the laptop despite me being well with the CPA time frames.
All I want is my R9000.00 back for a laptop I do not have which they assess and deemed to be faulty.
Please can you assist,
