Best to go elsewhere

Contacted support to get some upgrades for my laptop, everything was fine until I actually brought the laptop to them. Brought it in on Tuesday 30 August, checklist noted that there was no damage. They said the upgrades would be done in 2-3 business days, and that they would phone when the computer was ready to be picked up. I did not receive any phone calls, so I called on Friday 2 September, only to be told that not only was my laptop not ready to be picked up, it had not even been handed over to their technician. Management had not done their due dilligence in making sure that the job was being followed through on, and as such, my laptop was lying in their office while I was unable to work.

But I thought, sure, that's fine, at least I'll get it on Saturday. So I drove out to Evetech on Saturday morning early to pick the laptop up, got sent to collections where I was made to stand in the sun without any seating and received the laptop. Again, I thought, "well at least everything looks right." Got it home, booted it up, and while the components I had bought were functioning correctly, the fan had been disconnected as the technician had been rushed due to poor management. I was bitterly unhappy as my laptop kept overheating, so I contacted Evetech. They then insinuated that this was my fault as "a ***** was missing" and "the laptop was very dirty". When the laptop was checked in, no ***** was missing as their own records will show, and only the keyboard was dirty which does not affect the functioning of the fan. I insisted that Evetech fix the problem free of charge and reimburse me for the travel expenses, as it was their fault that the fan was not working. Thus began a long chain of emails where they refused to accept culpability.

My trust in Evetech now completely destroyed, I decided to fix the problem myself, and opened my laptop up, whereupon I discovered that the casing was cracked directly over the fan. Once opened up, I simply made sure that the fan was plugged in correctly, and now the computer works just fine, albeit with a cracked casing. I sent support an email showing the attached photo, which they have not responded to as of writing this review.

I want to make it very clear that this is purely the fault of management and not the technician. No one would have had to rush to finish the job if management actually had a clue what was going on with their operation. Evetech had a chance to make this right and decided to instead be ***-headed about it. Extremely unprofessional and frankly embarrassing.

I guess if you want your computer damaged and to be treated very poorly, Evetech is the company to go to, but I think I would rather take my money elsewhere.
