Eurowings **** - Baggage Allowance policies, ******ion and Poor Customer Service
I recently booked a flight with Eurowings from Stuttgart to Heathrow, where I encountered an issue regarding baggage charges that I find wholly unjust and unacceptable.
I booked my ticket online at a reasonable price of EUR 100.99, which included a standard-sized hand baggage with the flight cost. I also purchased an additional 23 kg check-in baggage allowance. I had no issues with the check-in bag; however, the issue arose as to what Eurowings would consider “hand-baggage”. It must be noted that my hand baggage, a small sports bag, conformed to Eurowings' stipulated size and weight restrictions for hand luggage (under 7kg and smaller than 40 x 30 x 25 cm).
However, during check-in, despite my carry-on bag meeting all size and weight limits, I was informed that it couldn't be considered as hand luggage since it didn't fit into their specified categories of a "computer bag/backpack/purse." Consequently, I was forced to pay an additional EUR 40.00 to board the flight or leave the bag behind; a charge that amounted to 40% of my original ticket cost.
I paid the amount as I didn’t want to delay the flight and on arriving at my destination, I promptly requested a refund of the unjustly imposed baggage fee of EUR 40.00. Despite reaching out to Eurowings three times via email, the responses received have failed to acknowledge my legitimate concerns and complaints. This treatment is unacceptable. I firmly believe I was wrongfully charged for a carry-on bag that fully adhered to Eurowings' published regulations.
My experience with Eurowings has been marred by this incident, and I am making my concern known on this and other platforms to ensure fair treatment for all passengers. It is my hope that this action will prevent others from encountering similar issues with Eurowings and experiencing dissatisfaction due to their unfair and ******ionate company policies.
