*************\************ outfit
As a visitor at the time to South Africa I hired a VW polo for 3 days from Europcar, OR Tambo branch. Whilst using the car I had no incidents and drove normally. The car was returned to Europcar with a full tank of petrol. Upon return the car was then subjected to a rigorous torchlight inspection in which a normal wear and tear mark on the lower front bumper was "found". In short this then meant Europcar quite ridiculously claiming (i.e. taking) without notice my full deposit of some 5000 rand! To try and justify this Europcar proceeded to send me copious amounts of photographic evidence of the car in a garage - but yet not one of these pictures actually showed the bumper had been repaired\painted Also worth pointing out that during the car hire I was subject to an attempted *****, as someone with sufficient information about myself tried to make a transaction of some 15000 rand from my bank account As Europcar (at the point of car hire) take a lot of information about the driver, including a photocopy of my bank card, then it cannot be ruled out that this attempted ***** came from within (Note: I had arrived from the UK that same day and had made no other transactions). Fortunately my British bank Halifax who do business properly thought the transaction suspicious and thus declined it I have used Europcar in Europe and been happy with the service, however Europcar SA cannot be considered in the same breath. Avoid this ************* company
