Unprofessional Experience with Courtesy Car Rental

I would not recommend Europcar, even if it’s a courtesy car from insurance.

On the 26th of February, Martin delivered a car to me, which was a courtesy car from King Price. Friend and very professional. We did thorough inspections of the items we could see. The next morning, the car had a slow puncher. I report it to the Hatfield branch and was told they would exchange the car and drop it off to me.

I then call 3 hours later to find out what is happening and was told that now I would need to pay R1k excess and would need to come to the branch. A whole change in the story from my initial call. When I point out the fact that there was no way for me to have seen a slow puncher on the car when I received it, they then say anything could have happened between the time they delivered the car and when I saw the puncher.

After numerous engagements, I ended up just returning the car. When in just one day I was now being charged an additional R1k, what will they do in 30 days? I have heard enough horror stories about Europcar that I should cut my loses here.

When I returned the car the agent did their inspections and found concluded there was no damage / issues with the car. I hope they don't come back with issues in the next couple of day and I can get my deposit back.

The worst thing is I am without a car and still have to wait 10-15 working days for my deposit.
