Unfair customer treatment
I hired a car at the George Airport branch and returned it on the 13th March 2023. A few minutes after returning the car, I was called and informed of ‘damages made on the car’. Luckily I was still at the airport so I managed to go back and speak to the ‘car inspector’. Upon arrival, I found that the car inspector had no keys to the car (these were with a different guy who could not be reached at the time). so the car inspector confirmed that he could not view the pre-inspection document that was handed to me (as it was in the car) which showed that those damages existed prior to me collecting the car.
Firstly, this is very unfair customer treatment…concluding that there are damages prior ti checking a pre-inspection document.
Secondly, I signed the document handed to me by the car inspector acknowledging that I do not accept liability from those damages as those existed before and hence it is important for Europcar to check the pre-inspection document.
Now, yesterday when I called Europcar to follow-up on my outstanding deposit…it appears that the ‘damages’ were still listed under my name despite my efforts to try to resolve this on the 13th of March 2023 at the airport.
This is disappointing as it seems like my concerns were not addressed and now Europcar has not paid back my deposit. Please can someone assist?
