Sadly give Car Rental places a bad name.

As a visitor from overseas I rented a car on the 19th of January for 17 days. I picked the car up that had nothing marked on the sheet, yet had a few knicks and chips, this was waved away as "only marks over a certain size counted" by the representative at the desk and a rep in the car park, which seems reasonable.

Anyhow I had no issues over the 17 days and returned the car to OR Tambo airport at about 7pm on the Saturday evening. There were a couple of representatives, there, one of whom glanced over the car (he even ran his hand along under the front bumper - which I recall thinking at the time was quite thorough) - anyway, he said everything was fine and waved me off, as did the guy at the desk. As one usually feels harried at the airport I then left to catch my flight.

However on firing up my computer on the Sunday afternoon, after getting back I then received an email, saying there was a scratch to the front bumper and I had to fill in an incident report. The photos were taken 20hr after I had dropped the car off.

I responded with a few queries to Sipho Nkomo, on the size of the damage and context of the photos, which were vague. I said there was no incident of which I was aware, so I couldnt fill in the form. I also queried the 20hr delay, the fact that there was no surrounding damage and so how could they be certain that nothing had scratched the car in that time especially because of the the fact that the car had to my knowledge been checked in that spot when I returned it.

There was no response, and eventually I had to email Sipho again, who then put me onto Rowan Kellerman who also took days to respond (although apparently he was *away*), yet again instead of getting answers in resolving this matter, I just kept getting the same needless responses and didn't in anyway counter my doubts or answer my queries.

All I want to do is resolve this. I've now been left with a pretty terrible taste in my mouth about this company and it's tactics. Even if somehow I and the Europcar rep missed this *damage*, there is no way it is damage that comes anywhere near the deposit taken.

Hopefully the CX service will be able to rebuild some faith back in this company as other than this, (which ironically came after the experience had supposedly finished) I had, had nothing to complain about.
