Is this incompetence, or a *****ulent attempt to extract money ?
Firstly, I’d like to state: 1) Until now, after numerous rentals, I have always been very happy with Europcar’s service. 2) I tried unsuccessfully for at least two hours to make direct phone contact with both head office and the CT branch. Phone either disconnected or rang interminably.
I returned a car to Cape Town International Airport on the evening of the 4th December 2023 at around 7:00PM. Inspection was done by the agent and she determined that everything was fine and that I could leave. Just before 8:00 PM, as I was boarding the plane, I was surprised by an SMS stating that ‘on further inspection, damage was found on the bumper’ The car by then, had been back with Europecar for an hour, so if there was actually any damage (which both the agent and I didn’t see) it could easily have been caused in the Europcar parking lot. This is disappointing to say the least and I’d be willing to take a polygraph test at Europcar’s expense to determine if I am hiding the fact that I ‘damaged’ the car. SMS *** from Neliswa Ndlumane.
