Inflated security deposit

When picking up the car, I had to pay security deposit 25% higher than the amount indicated by the online booking information. I ended up having to take nearly R1000 of insurance (for 6 days' hire) to lower the required deposit, just so that the resulting total would clear my banking limits. This essentially amounts to breach of contract. Looking back, I should have demanded a full refund of my online booking on the spot and taken my business elsewhere.

Looking at other reviews, I see I'm not the only one to experience this: The fuel tank was not completely full when I picked up the car, but Europcar still charged me to top up the tank after dropping it off. This is after I already replaced the fuel I used. The amount in question is not worth fighting over, but it is enough to ensure that I never make use of their service ever again.
