*********** and **********. Charge **** damages which cannot be contested
I rented the car from Tambo on Nov 13 and the car we picked up had a few minor scratches on the hood and front bumper. We told the person about it and he said not to worry, just note them and take pictures. We did. When we returned the car on Nov 17 at Braamfontein, the person at the garage refused to take in the car saying that the car had been damaged. We told him that these minor scratches were already there before we drove it and showed him the note and pictures from Tambo. He told us to fill a form - where we explained everything. The next day (because we returned on a Sunday) we called the Braamfontein branch to make sure the car has been returned with no issue but was told to sort things out with Tambo but Tambo branch was equally clueless. I gave them my phone number and assumed they would call if there were any issue. Now a month later, I saw a charge on my credit card from Europcar. The invoice department told us it's due to front bumper damage, yet they never sent me any invoices or details of what was charged. And when I asked how to sort it out because this was not our fault, we were told to email claims department and the branch manager. We did and received no replies whatsoever.in fact, we got a bounced email saying that their inbox is full. What kind of *********** ****** are running this place? It seems from reading others complaints that Europcar does this a lot: charging **** damages to customers and making the claims process so opaque and inaccessible to frustrate people so they just give up. I plan to dispute the charge, and make a big stink about Europcar's ********** practice on social media unless Europcar fixes the situation.
