********** damage claims - Passing the buck
We hired a car on the 5th April at King Shaka branch in Durban and did the customary check on the vehicle. The assessment is a walk around the car, that does not include bending down to check the under of the car. we returned the car on the 7th of April, an assessor walked around our car and noted there was dent on top of the wheel on the letf side.
He claimed he could see the damage while standing from the behind, He further said it looks like an old dent though, however they will investigate.
We were not in any accident nor did we hit anything, which we very clearly told the assessor. It very clearly was an old dent and never recorded we happened to be the victims. We were told to fill out a report, which we gladly did, as we were not responsible for any damage.
on the 11 April we were told that investigation has been done and this is a new dent and we have to pay extra of 1800+ on top of the 1500 deposit.
I've asked for video footage and the pictures of the car before we took they did not respond on that instead they sent the amount due. we were not given any copy of contract.
regards, Thulisile and Lucas Maboane
