Fines Department is unprofessional

Recently I rented a car from Europcar. Headsup: they refuse to let you tap your phone - you need to present a physical card. I didn't have mine when I first went so had to catch an Uber home to fetch it.

A month or so later I received an email from the fines department informing me that I had received a fine and that they had passed my details on to the municipality. However, when looking at the time and location, I realised that it couldn't possibly have been me. I searched online and found a photo of a completely different car. I sent an email back to the fines department informing them of the above and got an auto response indicating they would get back to me in 3 days. They never did. In the meantime they deducted R250 from my credit card as admin fee. After a week and a half I visited the branch where I had rented the car, but was told they couldn't help me and advised to drive to the head office. However, I was also given the head office number. I opted to phone and spoke to Uriel Francis. He was very helpful and promised to sort it out for me and to send me an email as soon as he had. He kept his promise and I received an email within the hour. About a week later the R250 reappeared in my account. I can only assume that the municipality has also been informed that the fine doesn't belong to me.

Would I recommend Europcar? In terms of the car - it was clean and well maintained. The branch staff at Fourways were professional and friendly. Just remember to bring your credit card.

However, when it came to the fines department I was not impressed. They just process fines without checking that the car is indeed theirs (I'm doubt I am the first person to receive a fine from a ****** or cloned number plate). They also failed to answer emails. However, a shoutout to Uriel Francis for his professional and friendly approach.
