Europcar third party recovery mystery

I rented a car from Europcar in Durban in March 2017. During my trip I was involved in an accident (on the 18th of March ) caused by a third party. I was not at fault and could not have prevented the accident that happened in the Gateway shopping centre parking lot.

I informed Europcar of the accident and reported the insident to the local police (Umhlanga). I took all the details of the other driver, including pictures of her license and her car. Europcar proceeded to hold my rental deposit of R5000+ for the damages. I have tried to follow up on the progress of the claim numerous times, withour result. Nobody returns my calls or emails. It has been 4 months with no feedback other than the claim being recorded.

What am I to do? Could Europcar not resolve this matter in 4 months and at least update me on the progress? Should I open a case of ***** against the other driver? Is Europcar happy that I've

paid for the damages and is doing nothing to resolve this matter?

RA ********** 24

Claim 972364
