Europcar taking advantage of customers

Completely taken aback by a very negative and traumatic experience. Hired a car at Cape Town International and on return was told that I was responsible for the small gap between the bumper and car body. There was no dent in the bumper which could have caused the small separation. Obviously not being a professional car dealer I never noticed this defect on collection. I was subsequently charged R5,320 for damages. I filled the car before returning it to Eurocar and the fuel indicator was on the full marker but was also charged an additional R220 for refuelling. I had the car filled about 10km from the drop-off. A very unpleasant and traumatic experience for me since I never had any incident with the car during my hire period. But of course they assume you are lying when you plead innocence. My advice would be not to only check the car for scratches and dents, but also for evidence of assembly deflects between the various body parts. I've submitted a complaint to management but so far there has been no response. As a pensioner these charges really hurt and for something I did not do. To me it's completely ********** with no respect for the customer.
