Europcar mileage *****

I sent the below email to Europcar on 11 March 2020 and a follow-up email on 13 March about completely ludicrous mileage I am being charged for but they seem to be ignoring my emails. It was for an invoice where they claim I drove 1433km in 4 days between PE, Jeffereys Bay, Addo Elephant Park and back to PE - a total which Google Maps confirms to be in the region of 400kms. ____________________ Hi,

I’d like to contest the invoice attached as the travelled kms are completely ridiculous and I am flabbergasted that you would even try to get away with this.

Please can someone double check the ‘in' kilometres as I find this completely irresponsible and unacceptable that we would be charged for so many kilometres.

I have attached an image from google maps showing our travelling over the 5 days with the total kms.

Our travelling over the 5 days included: - Driving form PE airport to Jeffereys Bay - Driving from Jeffereys Bay To Addo Elephant Park via Paterson - Driving back to PE airport via Paterson

The above driving (as can be seen in the image of the map below) would have amounted to 391km. Lets call it 450km for the little corners Google may cut here and there.

Add in... - a bit of random driving in the areas (as one typically would do) Which would possibly amount to 100kms at most. But let’s give it the benefit of the doubt and say 200km

Even with these extreme allowances I have added, it only gives us 650km. To be even more generous, let’s give you another 200km (again, completely not right, but hey). And that still only gives 850km.

The fact that somebody has messed this up so badly (in the hope that I wouldn’t follow-up perhaps?!?) is beyond me.

I also zeroed the odometer when receiving the car and left it till we returned it on Monday morning and the kms were hovering around the ****m mark. I would never EVER have driven 433kms OVER our allotted amount.

Please can somebody get back to me ASAP about this as we need this resolved immediately
