Europcar - making sure you pay for their problems
I had to send my vehicle in for repairs and on my insurance had a courtesy vehicle which was supp**** by Europcar. I had to pay R300 for delivery of the vehicle to the panel beater and upon inspection of the exterior, I made the driver aware of all the damages. Once driving the vehicle, I immediately got a warning and called europcar to let them know, the head office said I should take the vehicle back to the branch it was rented from. I called the Braamfontein branch and they told me not to worry about the tyre as that is what the warning light was for and that I should just inflate the tyre at the garage and they would make note of it on the system. I also alerted them to all the damages on the vehicle that their driver had not put on the paper even after I had pointed it out to him! I had the vehicle from 07/03/23 and returned it on 27/03/23. As soon as I stopped the vehicle at the branch, one of the employees pointed out all the damages which I told him there should be a note on their system as I called in the same day o received the vehicle to make them aware of the damages and that their employee had not filled out the form. I was then made to fill out an incident report and upon questioning why, I was told cause I had an accident with the vehicle. I told the guy that I had not had an accident and that the damaged were on the vehicle when it was delivered to me. I was then informed to write down what happened when the vehicle was delivered which I did. I have yet to receive my deposit refund and have been sent an invoice for damages to the vehicle. I asked what the damages were that I am being charged for and low and behold it’s the exact damages that were on the vehicle when it was delivered to me! This company is a bunch of snakes that want innocent people to pay for damages incurred by others. I even have proof that there were damages on the vehicle as per the previous user of it as the document was left in the car but now they expect me to pay for it! DO NOT USE THIS RENTAL COMPANY unless you want to pay for other peoples mistakes
Since my first review, Europcar put on here that the matter has beed escalated to customer. To date, the matter still hasn't been sorted out. Every time I ask for a refund I get told I owe them money. Customer care still have not contacted me and the fact that I have proof that the said damages were already on the vehicle doesn't seem to matter to them. This company is just after their clients money and don't care about service
