EuropCar Blaims Car damages upon return on Clients without doing pre-trip inspections
We rented a car, Silver grey A4 sedan, in April 2018 on the 13th. At the Kimberley Airport Europe Car The car was handed over to us without physically checking the interior it for existing damages or the non-existence thereof.
A few days after returning the car, we were informed that a button in the car was damaged and a +-R13 000 fee will be charged. Subsequently we were handed over to the lawyers for this.
We called and spoke with one of the personnel from the company, Ref ********** 1, informing her that we assumed that the back required a little more effort hence no accident report created, she responded over the phone and said we shouldn't have assumed that the button was usually like that, well they should not assume that we damaged the button, as their own personnel drive the cars from the depot to the parking bays near the branch entrance.
We further communicated via an email to a Ms Nonjinji making an enquiry as to how and why they come to the conclusion that is us the clients who damaged the button.
She rep**** by sending a screen dump of their system indicating the movement of the car and referred it to feedback.
Now we have to incur legal expenses in obtaining advice on this matter and deal with a lot of unnecessary admin.
We will definitely no longer be using the EuropCar services and will strongly recommend to our company and friends to avoid them.
