DAMAGE TO HIRE CAR

Our car broke down in Moz and we had to find a rental from the border back to Jhb. We found a car at Europcar Nelspruit Airport. Having had to hitch a ride with the tow truck, we were late arriving to collect our car. The chap on duty kindly came back to help us. It was after 7pm and dark, so the inspection was done under a street lamp at the airport. When returning the car to the Randburg branch they told us there was a scratch underneath the back bumper. My husband told them we had driven the car from Nelspruit Airport to our home in Jhb, and parked it. We then returned it the following day. We never hit anything, nor did we bump into anything. We firmly believe the scratch was there before and were happy to give an affidavit to that effect. How does one in broad day light go looking under a vehicle before taking it, never mind in pitch darkness? <br> Europcar paid no attention to our absolute conviction that we did not damage the car, didn't call Nelspruit to confirm we collected in darkness & prove the scratch was already there! We use car hire fairly often -Europcar we will not use you again!
