**** damage on car
I was in Cape Town in January and rented a car from Europcar for a few days. A few days after returning the car and receiving the invoice, I received an email from Europcar saying there had been a scratch. I asked several times for dated photos (including the licence plate) because I had never deliberately caused a scratch. At some point I received pictures that looked genuine, including a quote for the cost of the damage. Last Monday I emailed them a statement of account, which I am still getting back from the depot, and told them to please confirm this. Only then would I sign something.
And now I have received the entire deposit back today without any information.
I've been to SA many times and it's not my first hire car. A local friend told me that this is obviously a new ****. And yes, the email addresses looked genuine.
So, be vigilant, it's best to take a video of the car when you receive and return it. Also, don't sign anything, wait and see, it could all be ****, as seems to have been the case here.
Lucky me and despite everything, South Africa is wonderful ❤️🇿🇦❤️
