Damage Claim Dispute
I hired a vehicle from Europcar King Shaka on the 10th August 2015, and after returning it on the 12th August 2015 it was noted that the drivers door lock had been damaged, for which photos of the damage was sent to me. This was understandable, as the car was broken into on the way to the airport, which is a story for later.

On the 23rd August 2015 I received an invoice from Europcar for R7925.36 for the costs to repair the damage. This is an extremely high amount for the replacement of a door lock, particularly since the photos sent earlier & the signed drop-off check shows no other damaged had occurred.

This invoice includes no break-down of how such a high repair cost was achieved, and in addition it included a 'R726' claim fee, which doesn't make sense since there should be no insurance claim taking place. If a insurance place were to be taking place, then that would mean that the actual cost to replace a simple door lock exceeded R7925.36, which is beyond ridiculous.

On the 25th August the full invoiced amount was deducted from my credit card, without my consent and with my concerns over the amount still in play.
