courtesy car rudeness, and ruthless business ethics
On 31 Oct 22, I picked up a courtesy vehicle from Europcar Durban central. On 16 Nov 22, Europcar rep contacted me and requested that I bring back their vehicle, and I will be given a replacement one. I requested the rep to arrange for the vehicle to pick up from my workplace as I was busy, however, he insisted that I must bring back the vehicle myself. And I comply with his order.
I only used the replacement vehicle on the 17 and 18 Nov. On 19 Nov 22, at around 05h00 am, I had to travel but the replacement vehicle couldn't start. I called Europcar's emergency number, and I was on the phone for more than 45 minutes. I also called their (031) number, and it was before the operating hours. Finally, I had to call a Uber, to pick me up as I needed to travel to an event over the weekend. The replacement vehicle was stationary in my garage because It was not starting. Again on Monday, 21 Nov at +/- 05h30 I called Europcar's emergency number and I was on the phone for + 30 minutes. their rep only arrived after 2 hours, with the 2nd replacement vehicle. In the end, I returned their vehicle. On 22 Nov Europcar sent an invoice for refueling the first rental vehicle. I had to go back to their branch in order to speak with a person who I gave the proof of filling up their vehicle. On 29 Nov, Europcar sent the 2nd invoice, and I contacted them, they informed me that they are claiming access because the first rental vehicle had a dent on its roof. They said the claimed amount will be added to my deposit of R2500, which Europcar has not paid back. And no one i.e. between Europcar and my insurance company ( King Price) is listening to my side of the story. Including being inconvenienced a couple of times when I had a courtesy vehicle, paying for an Uber, and spending airtime when Europcar would not start. I am requesting your assistance in dealing with Europcar in getting my deposit amount of R2500, and in getting King Prince to deal with their service provider Europcar. Europcar is running its business ruthlessly, as long as they make a profit, they care who they rob. Regards BI Mntungwa ***1 ***
