Charged for wear & tear on the rental car

I rented a Ford Figo car (HG18YHGP) with Europcar Meadowdale and as I was driving the car on the Freeway a rubber on the roof of the car came out and and hit the roof of the car. I am very unhappy because I did not damage the car the rubber came out which was a hazard on my side as the rubber could have damaged the windscreen or any other car on the road. The worst thing is that they are charging me for the rubber that came out without it being my fault. This is wear and tear of their car. Why should I be charged for something that was clearly loose when they gave me the car? This is not acceptable.

Good Day Please note that the rubber of the vehicle came out without my fiddling with it or being involved in any accident and therefore the rubber could have been loose or was made loose by the rain. I therefore do not regard that as a damage caused by the driver and thus wear & tear. I completed the form at your branch as I was told by your staff that that is the procedure for me to report this incident and not because I was taking liability of fixing a rubber that could have been loose when the car was given to me. I also put it to you that your branch could have known about the rubber being loose and still gave me the car which put my life in danger, because that rubber could have hit the windscreen whilst I am driving. that is purely negligent on your side. This clearly looks like you give to customers cars that are not roadworthy in order for them to pay for your wear & tear. I am not liable for this cost if we have to go to court for this then let it be. Regards Show quoted text
