I wish there was a “no star” rating option here.
I started getting phone calls from a debt collection company on behalf of Europcar in 2017. A year after the last time I rented from them.
I explained that I remember dropping my car with no damages and signed and went on my way.
After many phone calls and many attempts to sort this out, they still didn’t send me all my paperwork that they were using to make these claims from. Europcar never contacted me and never made anything clear to me. They just handed it over to their debt collection and waited an entire YEAR to do so and with zero paperwork sent to me to actually verify what they were saying.
Only last year did I get the “pick up quality check sheet”. Which confused me because I don’t recall dropping off that vehicle. After much bullying from the debt collection company. I finally broke down enough for them to send me all my paperwork.
None of the paper work match. They’re still telling me that I did major damage to one model cal registration x, when I picked up another model car registration y, and dropped off another model car registration z.
They’ve not ready any of my emails, listened to me beg and plead for information. They’ve literally just insisted that they are right and I am wrong.
When disputing my claim they told me that the drop off sheet still states there’s damage (two small chips) where the pick up sheet says there was no damage when I picked up the car... yes. Again. Those two cars don’t even match. But they told me I’m liable... for the damages of a third model of vehicle. Don’t rent from these people. They’ll bully you, they’ll be evasive when asking for proper proof. They still haven’t provided me with the email they said they sent me in 2016. They think someone writing on an incident report “email sent” is the same as sending me the actual email they sent me. And on top of that IF they did send me an email... no one bother to check up on whether I received and/or understood the email for an entire year before starting a process that messes with my credit record and my integrity. Not to mention the amount of emotional stress I’m under with all this. It’s upsetting.
I had to point out to them that the two sheets don’t match... after they told me I’m liable for the damages. Think about this now... I’m liable for the “big damages” (not even specified what that means or details of what was fixed) of a THIRD car (not on pick up or drop off sheet) when the drop off sheet stars “two chips” and the two sheets don’t have vehicle models or registration numbers that match?
