A desperate customer
I took out a rent to own contract with Drive to own, a client of Europcars. Option to own the vehicle after a driving a certain km. On the 2 May Drive to own sent an email advising us that due to a 30% increase from Europcar that they cannot afford they have no choice but to look for an alternative provider, and that cars will be switched once done. Then I get calls from Europcar asking to return their vehicle with immediate effect as they have ended the contract with Drive to own due to non payment. I really think this is unfair, I understand why they want vehicles returned but atleast give us notice? I had already paid for the car this month, I had filled the car with petrol to get to work and back and drop my kid at school, now I have to return the car with no alternative transport or money to use public transport. I have a budget for the month, includes the car and fuel, i don't have a cent left and wont be able to get to work now. I understand that Europcar customer didn't pay, but I did and now Drive to own cant even refund me my installment? All I ask is that Europcar can atleast give notice till month end. That would be fair and the right thing to do, not leave us stranded because this is not our fault.
