Refund of purchase

I bought a pair of shoes on 1 March and then they were unsuitable for my daughter and we returned it the next day in the same condition. I paid cash for my purchase and they refused to pay it back. They said they can only give me a Credit note. I am very unhappy about the situation. I didn’t even pay it with a card but I paid CASH. The amount was R1590. (Not a small amount) I would like my cash back.
