Non performance

Entered into a 5 month freelance accounting contract. Provided training to ensure he is fami**** with our records and work expectations, also paid R3500 retainer. Numerous phone calls and mails upon the first month to inquire when he will start. Only one week later did we receive a brief phone call from him stating that he had a personal crisis and wont be able to provide service that month but will continue the next month, which we accepted. We have tried to contact him continuously the following month via phone calls, mails, messages etc to no avail. Still haven't heard anything from him. Address on his CV is not specific enough to get hold of him.
