My boyfriend and I flew to South Africa from Chengdu on Vacation right before the corona virus outbreak and was due to return on Feb 2 2020. On Jan 31st I called the airline to find out if they were cancelling flights back to China and their response was “no but we are giving customers to option to reschedule flights free of charge until the end of April.” I was happy with that response and just to have a reference for that call, I asked for a reference number but the assistant said that they don’t give out references for calls but I can just call anytime before end of April to reschedule my flight as soon as I have a new date.

On Feb 13, I called them all day and their consultants were busy. Good and well, I tried again (all day) on Feb 14, I’ve spoken to over 12 consultants and 6 of them each gave me a different story and the other 6 put me on hold until eternity.

The final consultant I spoke with told me that In order for her to change my flight I need to pay close to 5002¥ (+-R11000) to reschedule because it’s a no show and for rebooking fee. And further added that the reason why the price is that high is because I bought my ticket when the price was low.

What kind of service is this airline providing? I refuse to pay anything after I was promised that my flight will be changed at no cost at all. I’m disgusted with your greed and lies. If this is the kind of lies you are promoting to milk customers in the end, well you will soon lose many customers.

Never again. Goodbye Ethiopian airlines!!!!
